Running Away from School (and Back Again)

Victor Ventura and Aileen Diaz

The Run Club has started again this year. METS middle and high school students are getting ready for our new track team. The students start running at 2:30 and end at 3:30. They have to run three blocks for a warm up. Then, they stretch for 10 minutes and run around the park.

Ms. Bouchard and Mr. Nichol are the advisers of the club and are training the students to run in the Liberty State Park Fleet Week 5K on May 26.

Update: May 2 The Running Club has been training to get the students’ endurance up. To do this,  they run a longer distance everyday. For example, if they run one mile one day, they run one and a quarter the next day. Before they run they stretch for five minutes. Then they break into three groups. One group runs for the entire time; the other one jogs, and then walks when they need breaks. The last group walks, runs and jogs.
