Pedro Gonzalez Falls in Round 5 of County Spelling Bee

Pedro Gonzalez represented METS at the Hudson County spelling bee on Saturday, 2/23. Pedro competed against 60 other spellers from 48 schools in the county.

The bee consisted of spelling rounds and vocabulary rounds. Pedro correctly spelled the words cockatoo, inferno and implement, and gave the correct definition for the word plausible.
Pedro outlasted over half of the other contestants, but unfortunately, in the 5th round of competition Pedro incorrectly spelled consensus and was eliminated.

The bee continued until Round 18, when the winner was crowned after spelling the word lexigraphy. The winner will represent Hudson County in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.
